As Tara has so eloquently described it... Africa is a whole other continent.
I'll be so far from home and at times pretty isolated, away from the constant (and instant) contact we're all so accustomed to. So the least I can ask of everyone back home is some updates on life stateside, right?
So e-mail me!

Help make me feel like I never left.
Four months. Two countries. One incredible adventure.

Why East Africa?
and more specifically...
Why Uganda and Rwanda?
Despite of the hundreds of times I've been asked that question, I still haven't come up with the perfect answer. I wanted an adventure. I wanted out of my comfort zone. I wanted something that would change my life. And this semester will be exactly that.
My program looks at two conflicts: the Ugandan civil war (Africa's longest running civil war, going on 24 years) and the Rwandan genocide of 1994. They've both captivated me for a long time, and now I'm finally getting the chance to experience these societies firsthand.
I'm going to try to update this as much as possible while I'm abroad, but internet isn't quite as readily available as I'm accustomed to. Try and bear with me.
I leave in 9 days, September 3rd. Here we go...
